Diddy Trial Verdict Delayed: Jury Deadlocked on Racketeering Charge

The verdict in Diddy’s trial has been pushed back

The high-stakes trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs, one of music’s biggest names, hit a dramatic pause today as the jury announced they’re deadlocked on one key charge, delaying the verdict until July 2, 2025. After seven intense weeks of testimony, the jury has reached unanimous decisions on four out of five charges, including allegations of sex trafficking and transportation for prostitution. However, they remain split on the critical racketeering conspiracy charge, which could carry a potential life sentence if Diddy is convicted.

The trial, unfolding in a Manhattan federal court, has gripped the public with its mix of celebrity scandal and serious criminal allegations. The jury, made up of eight men and four women, began deliberating on June 30, 2025, after hearing from 34 prosecution witnesses, including Diddy’s ex-girlfriends Cassie Ventura and another woman referred to as “Jane.” These witnesses described disturbing incidents of forced sex and violence, painting a picture of a music mogul who allegedly used his power to exploit others. The defense, led by attorney Marc Agnifilo, didn’t call any witnesses but argued passionately that the case is a “fake trial” targeting Diddy’s private life rather than proving real crimes.

The racketeering charge, which hinges on proving a pattern of criminal acts like bribery and extortion under the RICO Act, has proven to be the sticking point. After about 12 hours of deliberation, the jury sent a note to Judge Arun Subramanian, revealing they’ve agreed on the four other charges but are “unpersuadable” on racketeering. The judge issued an Allen charge, urging them to keep working toward a unanimous decision, and set deliberations to resume at 9 a.m. ET on July 2. If the jury can’t agree, a partial mistrial on the racketeering charge could be declared, and the verdicts on the other charges will be revealed.

Prosecutors have portrayed Diddy as the head of a criminal enterprise, using his wealth and influence to cover up alleged sex crimes. They presented evidence like text messages, bank records, and audio to support claims of coercion and abuse. The defense, however, insists the case stems from a $30 million lawsuit by Cassie Ventura and is more about money than justice. They’ve even compared working for Diddy to “going to Harvard Business School,” downplaying the allegations as exaggerated.

Social media is buzzing with reactions, with fans and critics alike speculating about what the deadlock means for Diddy’s future. Posts on X describe tense courtroom moments, with Diddy and his legal team huddling over the jury’s note, fueling public fascination. The four charges on which verdicts have been reached involve serious accusations of sex trafficking and prostitution tied to Cassie and “Jane.” These charges carry hefty penalties, including a minimum of 15 years for sex trafficking if convicted.
